Notably, Elizabeth actively embraces a broad definition of family that expands beyond the heteronormative or strictly biological. For her, family means the ones we love, whether they’re our friends, partners, colleagues, relatives, or some happy combination of the above. Working from the belief that life is short and togetherness is precious, Elizabeth surfaces the everyday tenderness and recognition that form the basis of our lifelong memories. She is equally intent on inclusivity and respect in front of the lens and in the teams she curates for her projects.
Elizabeth’s background is not necessarily traditional when it comes to commercial photographers, and that’s part of what makes her unique. In college, as a student of psychology and advertising, she learned how brands craft their messaging and what inspires people to believe in a product, insights that now inform how she approaches her commercial collaborations. Originating from New Orleans, a town where the good times roll, she believes even the smallest moments are worth celebrating.
When she decided to pursue photography, Elizabeth moved to Seattle to attend Seattle Central Creative Academy, whose program was designed to teach craft and business acumen in equal measure. It was there that she met her husband, who is also a photographer, and the couple now work from a studio in an old coffin factory. New Orleans continues to feature prominently in their lives, though: Together with their two young daughters, they’ve made it a family tradition to go back to New Orleans for 10 days of no rules, roaring bands, and a trail of glitter leading them back home.
